I blog corrected

Oops, sorry, my mistake, excuse me, but the Debut show for The Milwaukees, Hudson Rail Company, and Miss Ohio at IM Automata Chino is on Saturday not Friday. With Saturday now being the old Friday, on the real Friday, The One and Nines are playing at O'Hara's (two sets starting at 10:30pm), and Bryan Benninghove plays with 14 other Saxophonists and two drummers in the Sensorium Saxaphone Orchestra in Brooklyn on Friday Night. Bryan is also playing with the Hangmen on Tuesday Night at Parkside Lounge in New York City. Getting Back to the the One and Nines, they also play at Lucky Sevens Saturday Evening Showcase with Tip Canary and Los Chrispatores (www.myspace.com/deivisgarcia) music starts at 7 pm. In more garbled grammar, you can also check out Live Jazz tonight, Thursday at the new Organic Bakery, Made with Love. tonight is BRENDAN KIBBEE with special guests: Kaz Araki, John Lenis, Nobuki Takamen performing from 7 to 9 pm sharp. Combining my two previous blogs, you should be able to make out that it's going to be a busy live music weekend here in JC.

My musical medium is my feet, so lets talk a little about DJ stuff, Cootah is at the Lamp Post tonight, and I am on next Thursday, from now on we will be tag-teaming Thursday Nights. DJ Caligula is on decks this Friday Night. Thursdays, as always, is Ladies Night at Lucky 7's with Leonard Smalls, he will also be DJing this Saturday after bands at Luckys. Anytime after 3 am's this weekend, hit up Lex's Laisse Faire at 143 Columbus.

Thanks to, Any Day Parade, 100 Hits, Twilight Procession, WJ and the Sweet Sacrifice for donating CD's for the Snow Ball last Saturday. Here's a link to some great pics of the event taken by Lauar DeSantis-Olsson. Contact here at lauraseantisolsson@verizon.net if you want prints.

On the art side, we'll be opening the doors for 58's sixth Season next Friday with works by John Besante. John has a special arrangement to interpret artworks at the Metropolitan Musuem. Expect to see a lot of American Impressionist masterpieces at reasonable prices for this show. The opening starts at 7 pm. The Ides of March by Thomas J Carlson, will be up for March, You can check out 58's website for this year's listing.

John Besante also has two two bedroom condo's, and a commercial space available on Brunswick street. The Apartments are brand new, two bed room/two bathroom units with new appliances and a Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom. The new commercial space on the ground floor. If you'd like to see them, his number is 201-420-0202 or email me at rockitdocket@gmail.com. Originally, these apartments were going for $2400 and the commercial space is at $3500. But John is looking to make a deal and knock hundreds from the rent for new tenants.

These last three blogs should get us through Saturday. I am still looking for a place to deep fry for the Superbowl Sunday so I'll keep me posted.

three to five days per paragraph

Okay, the DJ line-ups have been formalized for tonight. Lulu is spinning at the Lamp Post, and Lucha DJ (identity classified by Mexican Officials) is at Lucky's. Saratonin, not the happy brain chemical, but the video projectionista, will be also debut with Lulu's debut. On Saturday Night (corrected from Friday) the quaint sized, Automata Chino will debut their live music space next door to the Iron Monkey with The Milwaukees, Hudson Rail Company, & Miss Ohio. The lay-out is tight and some creative space management will surely be utilized for fit this 5 piece into a three piece band area. I am personally expecting one guitar one the copper top bar. I think this show starts at 8 pm. If your band is interested in playing there contact booking@automatachino.com . It seems that PJ Ryan's name (and I assume ownership) change to O'hara's, is also bringing more local live music. This Saturday, the Super Bowl Karaoke Fun time band has enough material for a true length Bruce Springstein show, that should make you feel less gypped than watching the 10 minute performance for this Sunday's Superbowl. Also on Saturday Night, you check out the Buck Rodgers Inspired Costumes and music of Manchild at the Lamp Post. In other poorly organized paragraphs, the Ukaladies play at Jalpoy in Red Hook this Thursday Night. On Friday, my soundsytem and the energy of about a hundred MTV aged kids will be at the Monroe Center in Hoboken for the CD Release Party for Goodnight Bravado, Things start early with thee Com3back Season after 6pm. The Monroe Center is close the Ninth Street Light rail Station, plus there's free parking. For $15 you get admission, plus a reserved copy, plus an after dance party. This is most likely an alcohol free event so pack accordingly. by planning accoprdingly, please note that DJ Bill McCamie is no longer DJ-ing at Automata Chino, if you did make it out to see him through bone chilling temps, he thanks you.

Here's my post from Tuesday, so I don't have to repeat myself.

As you may have heard, a bodega owner was killed Tuesday morning on Coles Street (across from McNair Academy) from what I understand, no arrests have been made, so be careful my friends. Hopefully, they will find out who ended the life of a man , who many people described as a great warm man. A Vigil is being organized for this Friday.

This Thursday, several local restaurants are participating in the "Dine out for Kids" Night. Restaurants donate 10 to 20 percent of their lunch and/or dinner receipts towards the Hudson Country Child Abuse Prevention. Click here for the list of Jersey City Establishments. Also on Thursday Night, Club H is holding a comedy night to raise money for, Innervation. an organization that provides mentoring and athletic programs for at risk and underprivileged children program. There's a four comic line-up for that night, show starts at 8pm, come see how to you make fun of rock hard abs ? It's for a good cause

unlike Tonight's (Tuesday's) Babyhole Comedy Night at the Lamp Post, in which the money only really goes towards Melissa's Bar Tap. Seriously, Tonight's Guest Performer's Plowing Mud Forever, even features two babyhole comedians, with Ryan "Skinner's Loft/Vespa Tech" Stevens, and the forever loved "Camel Dude" Ralphie. I am not sure whose playing for Lucky's Singer Songwriter night, but Lucha DJ is back tomorrow night.

more tomorrow. i am late for dinner

ice cream and a brand new president makes everything sweeter

www.rockitdocket.blogspot.com

don't give up on your optimism yet, there are many local balls to enjoy right here in the JC area.

With the economy needing some serious infusion of rock solid policies, Plowing Mudd Forever is playing at the Trash bar in Brooklyn at 9 pm. Leave now, then catch DJ Street Justice at Motor City for an Obama Party. Even Atheists, we're covered in Obama's inaugural speech when he called upon "non-believers" to celebrate, for a deeper understanding of how this effects you, speak with Natty Adams , (no relation to Samuel , Maybe John Quincy), he's at the Stone Creek Bar on Lexington and 27th for a meet-up, he's there until ten so maybe you should see Steff after ?

On the home continent, the babyhole express has run a ground at the Lamp Post, on this day of hope, Melissa hosts her own inaugural ball. She will introducing and most likely swearing in her own cabinet this evening. If you want a slot get there early to apply for the secretary of the posterior. At Lucky 7's, Tip Canary, Deivito and Special Guests play at 9 pm. Get on your tuxes, citizens. On Friday Lucky's is having an 80's Television Party, costumes, prizes, and the lot. Mork from Orsen is DJing.

On Wednesday night, Brian Jones is DJ-ing at the Lamp Post, firing off an all vinyl salute, his carefully sculpted selection will have everything from Nigerian Afro-pop to 70's soul to '08 dance punk classics. He last trimmed down his best hour ever for New Years Eve at 58, now he's got time to stretch things out. Steff "Street Justice" Kautzmann and Claudia serve the serpents. Down the street, see who is rumored to play at Luckys.

There's more, but for now just get your Snow Ball Tickets for Saturday

Won't you be my neighbor ? The Inagural Edition

Dear Citizen-elect Bush,

I heard that your lease will expire at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue this Tuesday. I live at 516 Jersey Avenue in Jersey City (above Sushi Tango) and my neighbor has recently moved. This one bedroom studio would be great for Laura and yourself. You and your secret service detail can come over anytime for scrabble, Operation, and or karaoke. Let me know I have the key if you want to take a look, one thing though, my friends have first dibs though. (really $995 a month Feb 1st) great for a single or couple. If not I think you and Laura might want to talk with my Friend Lex Leonard, I think he has a space available in the gallery. you should come over tonight after 3 am for some Lassie Faire Fun.

Jersey City has a lot to offer for former chief executives, if you aren't busy packing tonight, I would say that you should come out and check out my roommate DJ Bill McCamie at Automata Chino by the Iron Monkey. It's a nice small spot that will be hosting live music shortly. Bands give me a call so we can get some booking done. DJ Bill spins Thursday and Saturday Nights. On another note bands, Billy Gray band Ben Franklin is looking to share a space at Pearl if you have extra room shoot him an email at billy@tankcrash.com. I am also looking for any extra promo cds, eps or merch for the SNOW BALL gift bags.

The Snow Ball is the annual Art House production fundraiser for their 2009 season. Next Saturday get ready to get dressed up all fun-swanky, with live music by the Bryan Benninghove Trio and DJ Soul. The Art house sits on the top floor of the the old St. Francis Nursing School of Hamilton Park. Rumor has it that the rooftop view inspired register nurses to fight for the first open air lounge. with food, drinks from LITM, Bar Majestic and Trish Cooks. Plus plenty of auctions goodies. Click here for more info and tickets.

Tonight George, you can still be the Commander in Chief at O'Hara's with the Super Karaoke Fun Time Band. I know you are used to If Rock Band and Guitar Hero have you high fiving your friends in your living room, take it to the text level by front manning up and lead. DJ's Leonard Smalls and Andrea WK are at Lucky's tonight. At the Lamp Post, Fairmount and The Narrative play. The Orion Experience plays with Nightmare of You, and US Royalty, so Bottle up and Go to Maxwell's . You can skate there, the Hudson is frozen.

Laura, don't worry Jersey City has something for you as well, next weekend the Garden State Roller Girls hold try-outs at their Arena in Branch Brook Park. No one would mess with THE First Lady, you can check out a clinic beforehand, the league also needs referees, score and record keepers, and people to pull bodies of the floor for them. all genders can apply.

On Sunday, I am in at Luckys Seven's for DJ Bill, my iPOD took a death dive from my bathroom door so it's all eight tracks and maybe some cassettes.

Get hot and Get out. I am done

To Barcelona with Love

the word, there i got it out so I should be done. ...nope just starting.

It's a new year, most of the gloss on 2009 is beginning to fade, have you had that first cigarette or worn your too tight black leather pants already? don't give up, midnight comes every day and you can start anew at any moment.

Melissa Surach's Babyhole is back at the Lamp Post this Tuesday. Former Camel Promotion Magante Ralph is guest hosting. Melissa will be back next week, as will Babyhole, which will now move to a new weekly format. Singer Songwriter Night is also back at Lucky Seven's tonight, with Copacetic and Square Wave Punch playing Bar Right.

At LITM, Teeth Eat, paintings by Vincent Minervini debut. Free snack (or whatever french word you like) and cheap wine are in the court. Glancing and introspective interpretation begin at 7 pm.

Wednesday reclaims it's normal status this week, shedding it's Eve surname, DJ's Pat Longo plays for Street Justice and her ensemble at the Lamp Post, and DJ Sup Babes plays at Luckys.

On Thursday, I'll be spinning at the Lamp Post for Autumn, Erika, and Lauren's "Fiesta de Adios" party. The ladies are leaving for Barcelona next Monday, so we'll have to have something worthy of a Spanish Inquisition that night. Erika and Lauren are looking for someone to take care of a 1 and 1/2 year old cat named Napoleon. Apparently, this cat can actually use the toilet.

Also on Thursday, the Art House, Jersey City's longest running spoken word night takes the stage for 2009.

My roommate, DJ William McCamie started DJing at JC's newest Venue, the Iron Monkey Automata Chino (next door to the Iron Monkey) last Saturday, he will be spinning there this Thursday and Saturday in this former Chinese Restaurant. Equipped with a stage, the new space will hopes to open a new chapter for live music downtown. Keep your ears open on more events.

Saturday Night, The Nolan Gate and The Swigs tear the Lamp Post a new hole in the wall.

Adios

2009 : A Place Odessey

Thanks again for the gold mine of recycling you helped create on New Years. It was a shopping cart frenzy on New Year's Day at 58. According to our records, only one person was up before 5 pm to come over and help clean. Thanks again to Any Day Parade, Melissa Surach and DJ's Neil Eggs McCoy, Brian Jones, DJ Soul and mEgan and Auttie McNaughty for spinning things right. Lex took through after 4 am, and he's pulling the same shift tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (sat) at his place.

Two days later, "the weekend" is back just like good old 2008. It's late Friday and Caligula should be just about at the Lamp Post. On Saturday Night. Brooklyn's Pow Wow, and the Spanish Prisoner's with Mikey from American Watercolor Movement on drums play live at the Lamp Post. Beforehand, We are getting together to celebrate Jon Besante's 58 at 58. Jon Besante support of arts as the landlord and partner of the Mary Bensen Gallery, Es Oro Gallery and 58, has kept art in Jersey City alive. Tomorrow night's event is a dinner party, so bring a dish, vegetable if you'd want Jon to taste it, a bottle of wine, or a box a cigars for a good friend. Dinner is at 8pm, please call ahead if you can.

Cheers
Tony
