We are really rounding out the last Groove on Groves with this week's band. Beef and Butter. Based on their myspace page, I am expecting a Cani-bus of influences to roll up with these guys. Thursday, and every Thursday, spoken word is back at the Grass Roots Arts Space (143 Columbus) . Things start at 8 pm. Carla's debuting a new episode of the Groovy ness. You can also get a good working view of Jersey City by following Eric Brown's Purple Bike from Yahoo. The bike takes pictures every minute in motion and records his location via GPS. Friday is getting arted up with Black September at the Lex Leonard Gallery. The exhibit features work by Ariel Deandra, Collen Gutwein, Cheneoa Maxwell, Ryan Roa, and gallery curator, Nyugen E. Smith. Across the river, as in New York City, a BOMB SCARE: Art Opening takes place from 6pm to midnight. Saturday Night, Along with my first, old friend, first JC Room Mate, and Gallery Owner, Jonathan LeVine, I will be making a second celebration of my 40th birthday at the Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park. We have an open bar from 9 to 11 pm, free bowling all night, and a Burlesque Show at 11 pm. Our good friend, Appetite spins, and I may be taking a turn myself. Everyone is gearing up for the JC Art Studio Tour. You can check out the listings at the Pro Arts Website. The event kicks off on Friday the third with a kick-off party at CANco lofts from 6 to 10 pm. 58 is hosting our annual unofficial kick-off party that night. If you come to our party pack an overnight bag or at least wear clean underwear. From what we understand the man will be coming to shut our art gallery down. Really. Sandwiched in the middle of the tour is the 4th Street Art and Music Festival on Saturday.
The tour ends up on Sunday with the City closing party for at the JC Museum, if we make bail, we'll see you there. Otherwise, have fun and remember, the city loves artists!
