Headline and Deadlines : The Elegant Science of Memory

I'm on my way to Tierney's in Montclair for a 9pm meeting with Bruce Springstien, he's going to play Nebraska in its entirety, then Willy Nelsun is going to play Red Headed Stranger, and Finally Thom Pettie is going to perform Full Monn Fever. It's all apart of an event called Drifters. Showtime is 9 pm sharp.
Tomorrow night I'm spinning with WFMU and LITM's Detention Night Megan McKee. we start at 10pm.

Sunday I'm going to try to make volleyball for the first time since July 4th. I hope my glasses are still there :)

17 Year Cicada - New Works by Kayt Hester

SAT 08/24 @ 9pm Port-o- Lounge he 17 Year Cicada – New Art Work by Kayt Hester – opens August 24th at Port- O Lounge, one of the handful of downtown Jersey City restaurants/art galleries that, by presenting to new audiences, up & coming and established local artists, are transforming the New York Metropolitan area Art World. As the title of the exhibition suggests, this edition of the yearly Hester Summer Showcase coalesces around the theme of Magicada Cicadas – the species of cicadas that only appear every 17 years. Her more recent work also expands her use of texture and color. Augmenting her black masking tape are new, extraordinary details made of brightly colored, metallic tape. She also has incorporated embroidery to canvases, essentially embedding 21st century needlepoint within her tape illustrations.

The 21st Pagan Thanksgiving Feast is upon us and from every nook and cranny the weird and wonderful will gather for an evening of full throated frivolity! We will gorge and devour! 58 Gallery Reunion Show

Opening F 6 to 9 pm Mary Benson Galleryey everybody, there once was this place called 58 gallery in dtjc showed some of the best art around by some of the best emerging artist around, it coupled the shows with sounds and visuals "that would create an atmosphere unlike any in nyc" holland cotter ny times...and it did a bunch of other things to strengthen the artist community between 2002-2012. it closed in 2012. some of the pioneers and trendsetters of that time are gathering for the start of this amazing series of shows. stay tuned for more info. www.fifty8.com

The Attic Ensemble Presents

Nov 7 to 18h @ Barrow Mansion | August, 1949. A fascinatingly realistic picture of routine cases brought into a bustling metropolitan police station in the course of an evening. Out of the welter of human misery, vice and foolishness there emerges the moving case of a decent young man who has stolen money from his employer; a hardened criminal dragging his young friend down with him; a lawless NJ "gardener" with a corrupt lawyer; and others. In the throes of the tumult is Detective McLeod -- a man whose black & white vision of justice will be challenged by the woman he loves most: his wife. A cast of 22 men and women will bring this drama of truth and consequences to life on the stage.
