Things are really heating up this summer. Just enough to melt tar we've got some big events coming up.

I Love St. Anthony's Street Festival starts Friday and runs til Sunday.

First this Saturday is Lucky 7's Rock n Roll BBQ. Beers, Bands, and BBQ fare. Oh and a little beach fare with a mini pool for the kids, and soem larger kids too.

Also on Saturday you get celebrate Bastille Day with Manouche Bag at Madamme Claudes Saturday Night at 8:30 pm. The play their usual gig on Thursday and then reprise on Bastille Day itself July 14th. at Madamme Claude's Wine from 2 to 4 pm.

And also on Saturday you can catch a Live theatrical Performance of HENRY VIII at Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery at 5 pm by Hudson Shakespeare Company!! There is nothing quite like live Shakespeare amongst 350 years of history and nature. Please join us for this special benefit event!! $10 donation. All proceeds to directly benefit the Historic Cemetery Restoration Project.

The Following Saturday, July 20th. Things are going to get paranormal for A Mid Summer Nights Scream at The Historic JC and Harsimus Cemetery. There will be Magic, Mysticism, Music, and more for this all day fundraiser for the cemetery. The Rock-it Docket is Teaming Up with the Musician Rock Network to offer a full bill of 9 acts.

Going One Week Further : We begin the first leg of The Jersey City Summer Olympics. A Sex-tathon Fundraiser for the Parks and Recreation for kids. On Saturday July 27th we begin with Wiffleball and Volleyball at Morris Canal. Teams of 6 up to 8 with alternates. Maximum of 4 dudes on the field. Click the facebook link if you want in. 17 Year Cicada - New Works by Kayt Hester

SAT 08/24 @ 9pm Port-o- Lounge he 17 Year Cicada – New Art Work by Kayt Hester – opens August 24th at Port- O Lounge, one of the handful of downtown Jersey City restaurants/art galleries that, by presenting to new audiences, up & coming and established local artists, are transforming the New York Metropolitan area Art World. As the title of the exhibition suggests, this edition of the yearly Hester Summer Showcase coalesces around the theme of Magicada Cicadas – the species of cicadas that only appear every 17 years. Her more recent work also expands her use of texture and color. Augmenting her black masking tape are new, extraordinary details made of brightly colored, metallic tape. She also has incorporated embroidery to canvases, essentially embedding 21st century needlepoint within her tape illustrations.

58 Gallery Reunion Show

Opening F 6 to 9 pm Mary Benson Galleryey everybody, there once was this place called 58 gallery in dtjc showed some of the best art around by some of the best emerging artist around, it coupled the shows with sounds and visuals "that would create an atmosphere unlike any in nyc" holland cotter ny times...and it did a bunch of other things to strengthen the artist community between 2002-2012. it closed in 2012. some of the pioneers and trendsetters of that time are gathering for the start of this amazing series of shows. stay tuned for more info. www.fifty8.com

The Attic Ensemble Presents

Nov 7 to 18h @ Barrow Mansion | August, 1949. A fascinatingly realistic picture of routine cases brought into a bustling metropolitan police station in the course of an evening. Out of the welter of human misery, vice and foolishness there emerges the moving case of a decent young man who has stolen money from his employer; a hardened criminal dragging his young friend down with him; a lawless NJ "gardener" with a corrupt lawyer; and others. In the throes of the tumult is Detective McLeod -- a man whose black & white vision of justice will be challenged by the woman he loves most: his wife. A cast of 22 men and women will bring this drama of truth and consequences to life on the stage.
