All Hail the Queen

First thanks everyone who came out to the PADNA Benefit. I heard that they raised a good deal of cash, or at least enough to pay for one day's worth of attorney time (lunch included). There where still about 1000 posters left when American Watercolor Movement's set changed into a gypsy drum rebellion. The Meltdowns and Tremble in the Heat rocked it, even if my PA and I started imploding. And sorry if I beat you on on the raffle :) I promise to put the gift certificates to good use.

Alright, in an effort to elevate my Amsterdam trip to awesome, Amsterdance 08 is this Saturday. They are still cleaning up in the Netherlands, which celebrated this Holiday yesterday. Tomorrow, Bar Majestic and The Merchant get a jump on Cinco de Mayo with their annual block party. My Roomie, DJ William McCamie spins all day. Party starts on the streets at 4pm. The after party finishes at Lucky 7's.

But Let me get back to Saturday because it is shit-loaded full. After you wake up. Head to Art House Productions to audition for their summer presentation of Sea Story. Have a 2-minute monologue and a good head shot ready to go. After they tell you that we'll give you a call, Head up to CANco lofts for PROarts Cash Bash. Cheap Art and music from 4 to 8 pm. $10 admission (one raffle ticket). Music by the Meltdowns. When that lets out. Head over to Newark for the Garden State Roller Girls Recruitment Party at Hell's Kitchen. After yo get fitted for fishnets, head over to Maxwell's for Any Day Parade, or (or both ? - hey do it all!!) you can go to the JCLGO White Party . Okay enough of me promoting other people's events. get your own blog :)....

Tonight (Thursday) , Styvesant CD release party is at Maxwell's. They play early so they can sell CD's and drink. If you prefer to perform your own music, poetry or fire eating. Head over to Art House Productions for their monthly Art House.

My Dear Friends,It's pretty cool that some of you are actually sending me /pointed/ queries asking about the next show. We're playing this Saturday in Jersey City at Canco Lofts, 50 Dey St, at 7pm. We're playing for THREE HOURS. Craziness. I don't know what mad man thought this was a good idea (*cough *tris *cough), but we're very excited about it. Hoping you can make it. It's a fund raiser for the Center of Arts in Hudson County, there will be an art auction, and snacks!We'll do a 45 minute electric set, then Adam and I are going to do a 45 minute open-dork-night acoustic thing where we try out new stuff and holler some of our favorite tunes, and then we'll wrap it up with a second electric set. Details for the show are in the attached flier.Other cool stuff:We're doing an in-store performance at Permanent Records, a great music shop in the Greenpoint nabe of Brooklyn on Sat May 10th, at 3pm: 181 Franklin St. All ages, free, a fun time, you should come.We'll be playing downstairs at the Laundromat on Thu May 22nd in North Carolina as part of WE Fest, which should be pretty rad.And we'll be coming back to Clash Bar to throw down with the Imperialists on Thur May 29th. We're playing Bar Matchless in Greenpoint on Sat May 31st! (Free, 21+)Then it's off to Knoxville, TN in June, with hopefully a layover in C-ville, VA. 17 Year Cicada - New Works by Kayt Hester

SAT 08/24 @ 9pm Port-o- Lounge he 17 Year Cicada – New Art Work by Kayt Hester – opens August 24th at Port- O Lounge, one of the handful of downtown Jersey City restaurants/art galleries that, by presenting to new audiences, up & coming and established local artists, are transforming the New York Metropolitan area Art World. As the title of the exhibition suggests, this edition of the yearly Hester Summer Showcase coalesces around the theme of Magicada Cicadas – the species of cicadas that only appear every 17 years. Her more recent work also expands her use of texture and color. Augmenting her black masking tape are new, extraordinary details made of brightly colored, metallic tape. She also has incorporated embroidery to canvases, essentially embedding 21st century needlepoint within her tape illustrations.

58 Gallery Reunion Show

Opening F 6 to 9 pm Mary Benson Galleryey everybody, there once was this place called 58 gallery in dtjc showed some of the best art around by some of the best emerging artist around, it coupled the shows with sounds and visuals "that would create an atmosphere unlike any in nyc" holland cotter ny times...and it did a bunch of other things to strengthen the artist community between 2002-2012. it closed in 2012. some of the pioneers and trendsetters of that time are gathering for the start of this amazing series of shows. stay tuned for more info. www.fifty8.com

The Attic Ensemble Presents

Nov 7 to 18h @ Barrow Mansion | August, 1949. A fascinatingly realistic picture of routine cases brought into a bustling metropolitan police station in the course of an evening. Out of the welter of human misery, vice and foolishness there emerges the moving case of a decent young man who has stolen money from his employer; a hardened criminal dragging his young friend down with him; a lawless NJ "gardener" with a corrupt lawyer; and others. In the throes of the tumult is Detective McLeod -- a man whose black & white vision of justice will be challenged by the woman he loves most: his wife. A cast of 22 men and women will bring this drama of truth and consequences to life on the stage.
