These Colors Run Fun or Red White and You

Well another birthday for the good ole USA. Virtually undefeated in War and not a World Cup to show for it. We got game though, and even if some Hurricane may dampen our July 4th, it's not going to ruin this parade/event/party! Come at noon if you can help set-up, the two nets, two grills, two plus canopies for a freedom fun time. In addition, from 3 to 10 pm, Councilwoman Candice Osborne is sponsoring a Low [Francis Scott} Key party downtown, with Kids stuff and food trucks. We'll be sharing the extra net and our tunes, compliments of Righton Shawn and George Soul Fernandez for this fun one.When the sun goes down, we will be primed for a great view of the Liberty State Park Fireworks and some killer karaoke. Please bring something to share, America didn't get this far because some cheap ass forgot to bring the potato salad. Just a note about Peninsula Park, be smart and safe. There are posted signs prohibiting alcohol consumption, maybe you should bring some cups and not flaunt it ?Also you will not be able to drive into Pualus Hook after 4 pm.

Tonight, as my veggies are marinating, I'll be spinning things up at Lucky's. sadly this means I will miss Desir Decir's EP release party at Lot 13 in Bayonne. Black Wail and Awkward Girls support. Also, Plastiq Passion and Bern and the Brights play Lamp Post tonight.Righton Shawn is at Porto I will be back at Lucky's Saturday Night as well. USA USA USA

The work reflects the artists finding their own space in this song to create and reflect. 17 Year Cicada - New Works by Kayt Hester

SAT 08/24 @ 9pm Port-o- Lounge he 17 Year Cicada – New Art Work by Kayt Hester – opens August 24th at Port- O Lounge, one of the handful of downtown Jersey City restaurants/art galleries that, by presenting to new audiences, up & coming and established local artists, are transforming the New York Metropolitan area Art World. As the title of the exhibition suggests, this edition of the yearly Hester Summer Showcase coalesces around the theme of Magicada Cicadas – the species of cicadas that only appear every 17 years. Her more recent work also expands her use of texture and color. Augmenting her black masking tape are new, extraordinary details made of brightly colored, metallic tape. She also has incorporated embroidery to canvases, essentially embedding 21st century needlepoint within her tape illustrations.

Parking in back or at the train station) When: The Monday Before Thanksgiving - November 21, 2011 Why: Libations - 7 PM, Dinner - 8:30 (we promise multiple food stations this year!) Who: Everyone, and anyone you want to bring, all are welcome. How: Remember to bring a side dish or homemade dessert Bonus!: Get your muscles primed for the Annual Wishbone Grudge Match! The 21st Pagan Thanksgiving Feast is upon us and from every nook and cranny the weird and wonderful will gather for an evening of full throated frivolity! We will gorge and devour! We will cackle and hoot! Glasses will empty, plates will be licked clean! In the end we will be emerge with bursting bellies, fizzy heads and murky memories. This year we are back at HALCYON in Montclair (next door to Egan's). Feel free to invite any demons you desire: friends and neighbors, families and co-workers, the more the merrier. We'll cook up the turkeys, the ham, the potatoes and the stuffing. All you need to bring is your momma's best side dish or a homemade dessert. No need to bring booze - the bar will be open all night. Every year, we pass the hat to benefit the Human Needs Food Pantry, which has enriched the lives of Montclair residents since 1982.

58 Gallery Reunion Show

Opening F 6 to 9 pm Mary Benson Galleryey everybody, there once was this place called 58 gallery in dtjc showed some of the best art around by some of the best emerging artist around, it coupled the shows with sounds and visuals "that would create an atmosphere unlike any in nyc" holland cotter ny times...and it did a bunch of other things to strengthen the artist community between 2002-2012. it closed in 2012. some of the pioneers and trendsetters of that time are gathering for the start of this amazing series of shows. stay tuned for more info. www.fifty8.com

The Attic Ensemble Presents

Nov 7 to 18h @ Barrow Mansion | August, 1949. A fascinatingly realistic picture of routine cases brought into a bustling metropolitan police station in the course of an evening. Out of the welter of human misery, vice and foolishness there emerges the moving case of a decent young man who has stolen money from his employer; a hardened criminal dragging his young friend down with him; a lawless NJ "gardener" with a corrupt lawyer; and others. In the throes of the tumult is Detective McLeod -- a man whose black & white vision of justice will be challenged by the woman he loves most: his wife. A cast of 22 men and women will bring this drama of truth and consequences to life on the stage.
