Brother Can You Spare Some Time or Disco Double U-Check Tonight

Now that your beach plans have been washed out. You may want to come to terms and embrace your weekend in this shore town. Jersey City is surrounded by water with 7 bridges leading to the mainland, we have a marina, plenty of waterfront property, and used to have a SAND BAR, now it's SURF CITY. Yes my friends you are already at the beach.

Here are some suggestions on burying your asBURY trip.

Want to Dance on the Boardwalk ? Hit Owen Grundy Pier at Exchange Place for Soulful Cypher's House on the Hudson at NOON today  [Just a reminder that next Saturday Aug 9th is the all DJ SIX BEATS UNDER/SILENT DISCO at the Hist JC and Harsimus Cemetery]

Instead of volunteering to clean the grill ? Spend some time volunteering at Art House Productions new digs in Journal Square. They are looking for people who like to party, painting party silly. "Even if you can only lend an hour of help, we need help from our amazing volunteers! Saturday, Aug 2 at 12PM-3:30PM and 5:30PM-9PM at the new location.  Art House Location  136 Magnolia Ave (directly behind the JSQ PATH Station) SHIMEON NANDLAL will be your point of contact. If you have trouble finding us or need to speak with one of us, call him at 201-699-3051 " can't paint ? donate

Looking for a substitute for your hijinks's at Jenks ? We've got four bands tonight at The Disco Double U-Check [State Farm reference if you are still scratching your head] have a couple of Hip-hop Rap acts on this bill, I think a Lucky's first :). Afterband Dance Party with Dancing Tony and Mat U-Check [The Front Bottoms]

Want that back yard hangout ? DJ William MCCamie is at Port-o Lounge and Reggae Roots band Kiwi plays tonight. Need some good comedy head to WFMU's Ground floor Space for a Monty Hall Night hosted by DJ Pat Byrne with Sideshow/Sundman Neil McAnemy.  (9pm-mid)! Featuring Joe Jack Talcum of The Dead Milkmen, comedian Sean Donnelly, an interview of John Holmstrom from PUNK magazine, and much more! RSVP here. Monty Hall is located at 43 Montgomery St. in Jersey City.

Need a place to Crash Saturday Night ? Go home your bed is still in JC.

Need some beach sporting ? Play Volleyball on Sunday at Morris Canal [end of Washington] nets up at 1:30 pm

Instead of spending an extra 4 hours in traffic coming home. Spend 4 hours with DJ Brode at Luckys Sunday Night Industry Night.

Okay, now that you made it "back". It's National Night Out in Jersey City music and family fun will be at 4 different Parks. I'll be Out at Kayt Hester's Ninety Summers Later at LITM The Opening reception starts at 7 pm.

ohh Longing for some sand sculptures and painted hermit crabs ? May have to hit the Boardwalk for that one. But if you do have some stuff for Thursday's  Sea and Sand Show at Boca Grande contact Craig Mahoney at cm[at]craigmahoney.com.

Cinco de Playa - The Battle of Puebla

Two tons of sand will feel great running through your toes this weekend's beach party at Lucky 7's. Pull out those flip flops and head over for some margarita's and high priced limes. Originally started by a Lucky's Bar Man Neil, the Beach Party used to happen in the dead of winter, this year we moved it to a warmer climate, and hopefully you will take advantage of the temperature appropriateness to don some summer duds. On Saturday night, bands in the sand start at 8 pm with Bongo Surf and the the US of Bugaloo, followed by a DJ The Fine Hawaiians, Chuck Daly and Myself. I'll have some door prizes for anyone appropriately dressed, if I run out of door prizes, we will have to settle for tequila shots. Sunday Night The Emergency Party will be in the life-guard DJ tower. Monday night will be a "official" Cinco de Playa party. The other days still count.

Also on Saturday Night, the Coy Kids play a pre-album release at The Lamp Post with the new JC Supergroup Black Wail, and Polina and the Pyramids. Get a sneak preview, these bans all reprise for May 17th Pushing Up the Daisies Fundraiser at the Cemetery

Don't Worry Be Happy

"a thousand Xanax couldn't clam me down" he shouted, grasping on what would become his last words.....

This isn't a suicide note, but I did want to let you know that the Rock-it Docket as we know it will be coming to an end soon. Be on the look-out for a new redesigned website made in Jersey City by www.fakeplasticwebsites.com. Roll out soon as well as some new formatting and PAID advertising and Merch, sorry I need a staff and heathcare, 14 years for FREE has been a bargain.

Okay as to my email, I'm gearing up for the Ladies tonight at Lucky's. But many a woman may be at the Lamp Post tonight for Polina & the Pyramids [11], Devi [10]  and the Karyn Kuhl Band[ 9]. JC Slams at The Dopeness beforehand. I'm Back Lucky's this Saturday for a Rock Steady | Reggae-ton Party with DJ Neva Wartell and DJ Special Guest Mon [Dave Alden]. Next Saturday I am teaming up with Andrea WK for Saturday Night Malaria | A Dance Party of Epidemic Proportions at the Lamp Post. We are going to deck the place out so if you really want a place to dance on Sat April 26th Jersey City this is it.

Creative Grove returns to the Grove Plaza on Friday with Re-Incarnate from 3 pm to 9 pm. On the Night side Killing Horse Records celebrates their Fourth year at the New Court Tavern. I'm not sure if it's a new location or they just no longer have the real mean door guy, which apparently think was the "charm' of the place. Ask me if I want someone to be rude to me so I can pay money to see a show. I am at least hoping that he was a really nice guy outside of the Court Tavern Anyway. Cicada Radio, Wreaths, Overlake, and tv sound all play.
The Dive Bombers play at Spike Hill this FRidays as well.

If you are up early Saturday Catch DJ Pastiche at MOD Cup Coffee. It's nothing like Starbucks and they make what's called a concentrato, which will make you twitch by the third cup. They serve pastries from Cocoa Bakery and a great food by Dark Side of the Moo is parked outside [ Pastiche Pulls a DJ double at Porto-Lounge later thank night] After you've zooted on some coffee head over to the 1st Open Call for the Tedx JC Conference and Make your pitch. for this years theme "A Brave New World". Rising Tide Capital, 334 MLK Dr. in the Bergen/Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City.Actually I think all of the audition slots may be taken.

That's it for now: I have to go manually promote events. Plus according to research you gave up reading after the 2nd or 3rd paragraph.
