First post of the year : Significance. nothing really. Still hustling and hustling this weekend it will be with the Sixth Annual Snow Ball at Art House Productions this Saturday. The annual fundraiser helps supports Art House Productions - Production for their upcoming season. If you have time to volunteer this week, visit Thursday, from 5 to 9 pm, or Friday from 4 to 9 pm. After that strap on your best Disco Stylings for a glamorous evening. Buy tickets here. Beside food and drinks, the night also includes two set by the One and Nines then DJ George Soul Fernandez ignites at disco ball for the rest of night. There's there a silent auction of great stuff including an guitar compliments of Jemma Loan. Each attendee gets a gift bag of goodies. A special thanks to The Thousand Pities, Food Will Win The War, New Tricks Jazz, Devi, and the Porchistas for donating merchandise for this cause. Hustling in Pennsylvania on Saturday will take place in New Hope as my kids Thomas Francis Takes His Chances play Triumph Brewery.

Special thanks to The One and Nines, The Micks, The Orion Experience, Fort Courage, and the Charlie Afrosheens for last JCFridays awesome performances. Another successful event in the 10th most artistic city on in America. No time to take a bow, the show must go on ! And this Saturday Night we are going to take Jersey City's Thomas Francis Takes His Chances and In Musth to Moonlight Mile Studios for a Mobius Christmas. DJ Street Justice spins. Doors are at 9 pm.

Tonight and through this weekend. Art House Productions, Stages ! [a Theatre Academy and Youth Performance Group] scramble their own versions of Green Eggs and Ham, served with a Cat in the Hat for Seussical Jr! This is of course a kid friendly event, but you don't need to wait for your heart to grow three times it's size if you want to get down in who-ville. On Friday Night, adults can help raise funds for Art House Productions Holiday Party at Lucky Seven's. $20 donation gets you an open bar for two hours from 8 pm to 10pm, plus great raffle prizes inclusive of tickets for this year Snow Ball. Please don't ask me to do the math?

Theatrically Speaking, JCity Theatre, is putting up the tree for their annual Tuna Christmas, and if you can't get through the holidays without visiting Bedford Falls, a radio reading of It's a Wonderful Life is being performed by the Attic Ensemble at Barrow Mansion/. Beyond tearing up when Harry Bailey toasts the richest man in town, the annual Holiday Cheer of this Saturday's Santacon [Santa Convention] is great fun for anyone looking to dress up as Mr. or Mrs. Claus. First next Monday is the 21st Annaul Pagan Thanksgiving Feast. A tradition that started in college, continues into our second decade. This years host restaurant is Halcyon in Montclair, the swanky sister restaurant to Egan's. If this is all new to you. Here's the deal on a platter for you. Q: I heard it's going to be cold and rainy and may even snow on Saturday will the event still occur ?

A: Of course not silly, cold and rain don't make fun parties. The Rain Date for the Cemetery portion of the party with will be SUNDAY OCTOBER 30 at 3:30/4:00 PM. THE AFTER LIFE PARTY AT THE LAMP POST WILL HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER. But come early as we may throw an extra band or two on the bill.

BE CAREFUL walking the grounds of the cemetery. The walkways are old and someof the ground has settled. DO NOT - DO NOT go into any restricted areas asthere are dangerous and most likely have poison ivy as well.

The event is outdoors, and it starts at 5 pm and ends at 10 pm. It's a fundraiser for theCemetery. (since you are not the charity please donate $10.) You need to be 18to enter, or must be with a guardian to attend this event and will need to signa waiver to enter.

Parking. Please park your car down the hill from the cemetery. There is no Parking on Newark Ave. Food and Drinks Lucinda's Crepe truck, Cal's Hot Dogs and Made with Love Organic Bakery will be on hand serving food, hot chocolate and hot cider until 9:30 pm. This year we rented TWO porto-potties. You can BYOB to this event. We will also have ghoulish libations available.

New Movement Takes over Jersey City

Hey Occupationists ! Don't worry Journal Square is still yours. But we wanted to invite artists and those interested in live model drawing for the debut of the Downtown Figure Movement tonight at 58 hosted by Joe Velez. First pose is at 7:30. Details below :

The Downtown Figure Movement is an inclusive weekly figure drawing/painting/whatever session (non-toxic materials only and no photography). It will take place in the heart of Jersey City's art community, The 58 Gallery, and will be hosted by Joe Velez. All, and we mean ALL, skill levels are welcomed to join. It's going to be a light, fun and casual atmosphere. All you need to bring are your supplies, your smiles and $10! Each session is 3 hours and will consist of: 5 - 2 minute poses, 4 - 5 minute poses, 3 - 10 minute poses , 1 - 30 minute pose, 1 - 90 minute pose.

Join The Downtown Figure Movement and create amongst some of the most notable Artists in the area!

The rest of the weekend look good to me, especially since it doesn't require me booking, banding, djing, etc. It's nice to be a guest, sometimes.

It figures that the weekend with the most things to do, is the hardest weekend for me to get this blog out. I've been up all night water-proofing the 4th Street Art and Music Festival [11 am to 10 pm] Afterwards I'll be spinning the after party at Lucky's Sevens with the L7's BBQ Master and DJ Leonard Smalls.

Friends there are plenty o things to do this weekend. And had it not been 5 am at this time I, would tell you more. Just please enjoy !

Movin', Shakin' or Grillin' and Killin'

Hey all thanks to everyone who came out to my birthday and/or the Any Day Parade Reunion show. Thanks to Carol for awesome decorations, Autumn, Ross, and Orlando for bar tendering, and Joey and Jay for cleaning up.

As for 58 my friends, I'll be taking off some time from putting on shows at 58 so I can focus on hopefully making some history with my kids, Thomas Francis Takes His Chances. I've been trying to hard pull off to many things at once at need to re-focus. If your band is interested inperforming at 58 you can contact orlando directly at orlando(at)fifty8.com. The kickball finals originally scheduled for this Saturday have been moved to Sunday. I did this to ensure that teams White Star and Lucky Sevens, who players have a big stake in fantasy football would be ineligible to play. It worked and both more athletically enhanced teams have dropped out ! Regardless though, both teams kept with their donations for the Learning Community Charter School. Sunday's games are still going forward, First Game at 1 pm but instead of battling it out for some superficial glory that causes most of you to behave like d0uchbag5, we will just play for fun. Everyone is invited to play some good old fashion Recess Time Kickball this Sunday. $10 donations will be greatly accepted. Just down the Street on Sunday will be the Lot Clean Up for 4th Street. That starts at 11am and there's refreshments for weed pullers. Tell Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree to Stay at home !

Sunday is also the Going into Business Sale for the Jersey City Artists Workshop, another Thomas John Carlson | Jersey City Art School product. Additionally Artists looking for Art Space will soon be able to rent space in the 1 McWilliams Building [Art House Productions], Just as well Roland Ramos has also secured a floor at the Monroe Center in Hoboken. Going backwards, Saturday is the Second Annual Hamilton Park BBQ. I've lined up 4 Country | Americana Acts for this event, with The Ashes [1pm] The Porchistas [2:15], Jeremy Wallace Trio [3:30], Ace Case and the Crosstown Country All-Stars [4:45] and Luaren Shub [Jazz Vocalist - 6:00]. Plenty of good foods and beverages. Later on Saturday check out Marty O'Kane [Jody Porter and the Black Swans, x-April Smith] at Maxwells.

Big weekend of music and reunions. Rye Coalition second bi-annual reuinion show [they played one earlier this year] takes place as part of the Brick City Sound Riots in Newark. Big ups to Jen and Zac of Ghost Train for steamrolling this event. Things start Friday and end Sunday. Here in the Jersey City In Musth plays reemerges from there summer slumber to play Lucky's on Saturday Night. on Friday Night, Ms. Jackson comes back to town for a special meeting of Automated Data Processors. Tomorrow Night, the skies will be all clear for the Souled Out Showcase at this week's Groove on Grove. If you are unaware, some Grove Point Residents are appealing to the city the shut down, Groove on Grove, Creative Grove and the Farmer's Market, in essence they are looking to end any programming in the plaza. So as usual, here we are again fighting to keep something from being shut down, please sign this Save JC Music on-line petition. As you may have also heard, Port Authority is looking to raise the PATH fare from $1.75 to $2.75. Apparently, some one ran off with all of their money ! Bullsh1t.

After some scheduling delays and a lock out by team owners, the Kickball Olympics aka Footstock dates have been set. Sadly, now we need to scramble to utilize the field for next weekend, August 20 and 21st, but they our our for the using so to wait until September seems a waste. Huddle in, here's the deal, we are running a three day Olympics that will culminate on Saturday September 24th at Mary Benson Field. For next weekend, August 20th and the 21st, we are setting up qualifiers that will allow the two best teams to get a buy round for the Olympic finals. Regardless of how teams perform next weekend, all teams that play will automatically make it into the September 24th finals.

Here's what you need to do. Help me spread the word. Get a co-ed team of ten (max 15 on roster) peeps together. A minimum of 4 women must play for the qualifiers, teams will be even 5 guys 5 gals for the finals. Email me at rockitdocket(at)gmail.com and let me know if you can play Saturday noon to 7 or Sunday noon to 6. Oh and don't worry about missing brunch the White Star is next door. Just a note the Olympics are a charity event, so if you think you are the charity of this town, please skip contacting me. My parents were always avid grillers. From the hottest day in summer to the coldest winter day, only a rainy day could grant me a respite of my mother calling me from work to "set up the grill". Kingsford Briquettes were the brand of choice, same routine every time, following the instructions on the side of the bag ; make a pyramid, add lighter fluid, wait one minute, light. Never failed, at most it faltered and that only game me the opportunity to disobey the instructions on the lighter fluid " Do not pour on open flame !"

Sunday, we have some good grilling going on for a special cause. The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery [ the location of last year, and this year's Ghost of Uncle Joe's Halloween Party] i hoping to raise some $50,000 to obtain a matching grant, in addition their running tight on their expenses and are in need of some financial assistance. So we've gathered up 6 bands, 2 lanes of bowling, racks of ribs and cans of beer to have a nice Sunday Cook-out. It's Sunday, so we are starting things early at 3pm. Live Music by Leaf Pile, The Audio Bodies, The Milwaukees, Ladell McLin, Bad Cop [Nashville], and Thomas Francis Takes His Chances all team up for this event. $25 entry with BBQ from Lucky's, $20 without, $5 off admission with two non perishable food items to donate for the St. Matthew's Food Pantry. There's live music leading up to this all week. A new doubled down effort has been going on at the Lamp Post, courtesy of Zac Clark and Jen Schwartz of Ghost Train PR on Saturday's and Thursday Knights Candice. Ghost Train is also booking Lucky's Tuesday Nights, a good way to get some shows under your belt.

This Wednesday's Groove on Grove is a Three Round Bout Showcase with Pat Van Dyke, Sylvana Joyce and the Moment, with the Defending Champions, stepping into the ring last.

Jersey City may be cutting it's budget on Fireworks (actually, they have been canceled) but that doesn't equate to us cancelling the annual July 4th BBQ and Volleyball. NOPE, it means another DIY opportunity in Jersey City.

I plan to bring a generator so we have a power source.

If all goes according to plans once dust comes, we will have an illuminated, karaoke, dance party on the waterfront.

JC Sporting for Good or Dodgeball Tournament May 14th

Hey All,

Spring is starting to spring back; T-shirts, shorts and high socks, you know what I am talking about here; Yep Dodgeball, my friends. Saturday May 14th (raindate May 15th) at the Skate Park by the White Star Bar. This event is the premier event for JC Sporting for Good, a project that I started with Ms. Elise Glaser, she's putting her sorority fundraising skills to work as we look to raise money for the Grove Street Bike Rehab Program. You see, for the past two years Grove Street Bikes has refurbished nearly 300 donated and used bikes, those bikes were then recycled into transportation, mobility, and exercise for people in need. The tournament will raise money to defer to the cost of refurbishing, storing and transporting the bikes. In addition, if you know of an organization or group that could use bikes shoot me an email or contact Mike Wilson at grove street bikes.

Ok Dodgeball, maybe a little scary, but you can wear a helmet, or dress like the riot police if necessary. or those guys from the Capital One Commercial (no real knives though), we are giving out prizes to the winners AND the losers. its a fundraiser! not the Olympics, okay maybe we called it the Olympics, but that was just for fun. Here's the deal if I haven't lost you; $100 team of six, three gals, three guys, you can have up to ten people on your roster. $15 for lone warriors, we will set you up on a team. email jcsportingforgood(at)gmail.com. or email me or text me 973-219-9696 or call me 201-324-2886. Team registration fees need to be paid in advance, we need your money, even if you decide the night before to break your own drinking record. To get you in the sporting mind, we have Volleyball Sunday's starting back up this....Sunday...now entering into our 11th season, these Sunday games have left such a mark that the permanent loss of grass can be seen from satellite images. We play at Morris Canal Park, aka the Jetty, aka the Pennisula. or Right Here Set up is at 12:30. All levels are welcome to play, this a a fun days that is only sometimes ruined by sore losers, so you do need to bring effort, don't let anyone tell you otherwise :).

Tomorrow (W) is the Board of Education Elections : The polls open at 7 am and close at 9 pm. Downtown Councilman and Mayoral Hopeful Steve Fulop is urging citizens to vote No on the budget and is recommending three candidates . One Jersey City has two candidates they are pushing. The Jersey City Independent has a Great Meet the School Board Candidate feature, plus a bunch of political ads you can click on. The main part here is this is a real opportunity to begin the transition out of the current regime and party domination of this city. This dictatorship is boring and exhausting the city. Hey thanks for spending all of the money from the boom days, oh what we are f@cking broke and selling the museum for a $1. I'll buy it, hold on I don't buy it !

Game Show Fever Pandemic Spreads Through Jersey City

Local hospitals are having difficulty containing a recent outbreak of Game Show Fever. If you are experiencing cold sweats, itchy palms and urges to bid and win on nearly $5,000 worth of prizes come on up to Art House this Saturday.

Here's some more details from my favorite Fever Fox

for those of you who haven't heard from me in a while, I've been working on this Saturday's event! Game Show Fever is a joint fundraiser for Pop-UP Art (the curating work I've been doing with Michelle Mumoli and other JC artists) and Arthouse Productions (a great JC arts non-profit). If you're in the area, come on down to Arthouse on Hamilton Park, doors open at 6, mingling and refreshments at 7 and live game show taping at 8pm. We have 26 great prizes to give away and 17 fun and quirky games designed for you to win! Tickets are $10 to attend and $25 for two chances to be called up on stage.

Junestar Mr Blackman to lead Bandtalions at this Saturday's Artstrike !

A Jersey City Independent reporter embedded with the art rebel forces confirmed that Junestar Mr. Blackman and the Afro Charlie Sheens will be the first Bandtallion of the 58th Division this Saturday Night.
Uta Brauser, in an address to her forces, tapped Junestar for the lead, citing that General Roland Ramos forces would not be able to reach the Mansion until 21:00 hours (that 9 pm). Brauser in a 30 second voice mail said "unleashing anything with Charlie Sheen associated to it" was a spiritual as much as logistical choice.
Furthermore, Braser confirmed that Lucinda's Crepes and Jersey Wine and Spirits will be with the initial brigade, so good rations will be aplenty. Leaked military plans also revealed that The Radio Exiles will follow June Star, with Roland Ramos. Ladell McLin and finally, Wyldlife will end the celebration.

Support in the Airwaves will be lead by DJ Motor Funker , who will be dropping beats like bombs all night in the Bunker Bowling Alley, with Lightning Brigade of Norm Francoer .

Underground Art Leaders call for City-Wide Art Strike Saturday March 26th

For Immediate Release (and prolonged pleasure)

(Jersey City, NJ) Uta Brauser from Creative Grove and Orlando Reyes of the Fifty Eight announced a planned Art Strike for Saturday March 26th. In a joint communique, leader of the rebel forces and noted "Outlaw", Orlando Reyes said that five Bandtallions will join the 58th infantry in the artsault on the Barrow Mansion. Creative Grove, art strong woman Uta Brauser also vowed to unleash a barrage of art on the facility. Brauser, in an earlier interview, cited that several local artists had already donated pieces to help the rebels funding efforts. Additionally, illuminationist Norm Francoer, pledged to light up the mansion, going so far to say that he plans to make turns "the bowling alley in the basement into a disco inferno". This assertion was reiterated by DJ Motor Funker who guaranteed a sound throw down of epic proportions. Further claims by the Dancing Tony, the groups Sinsiter of Information, of a stockpile of Rockit Docket's could not be confirmed at press time. However, even without verifying this information, our sources were able to confirm that the group has gone so far as to establish a safe corridor between the Mansion and Lucky Sevens in the event the group needs to retreat to higher ground with a planned curfew to take place at midnight.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

I used to get up this early all the time to watch cartoons, now I get to sit in front of another screen for hours.

Drop buy 58 today. In order to make room for our new brazilian roommates, Au Capiero, we are clearing out the garage. With the exception of 4 black and red chairs that went missing last Friday, most of the garage contents are up for sale. I'll be out today posting some flyers for our Art Strike event. Sorry I bet you can see it well on your smart phone. The Art Strike is a joint fundraiser between Creative Grove and 58 . Five bands, disco bowling, arts, food and drink for $20 or $15 with a non perishable food donation.

Today you can show some local support at the Speakeasy event at the Historic JC and Harimus Cemetery at 2 pm. Things are starting to warm up and be on the look out for a Pushing Up the Daisies festival in May/June. WFMU is also down to there last two days of their fundraising marathon, with the final hours wrapping up in tomorrow night at Maxwell's.

Run to the supermarket and start hoarding as many "c" batteries as the courtesy clerk will allow you to purchase, a great storm that has been brewing for the last three months again will threaten our quaint village ! sadly we sacrificed our only virgin the last time the JCFridays Dragon appeared and now it looks as the city will feel the full force of this art breathing monster. Sensational stories have already appeared in the windows of Fifty Eight Gallery, as newsman Ken Bastard (formerly wLITM news) has posted giant 5 foot warning signs that date back to the first appearance of the JC Fridays Dragon in the 1930's. This PULP should be taken seriously, and these in need of cleansing their AUDIO BODIES can do so with the OLDE GHOST's power. Mind you, others have gathered to to anticipate this attack and you can take shelter at any of these listed places www.jcfridays.com . Fearing an apocolypse, many have planned to gather at 660 Grand later this evening to ask one of the last Dragon Slayers for help. Prey for us.

Recovery can be short lived on Saturday. As our sister city, Hoboken, will be engulfed in a green storm of St. Patricks Day. Fear not my love, you can always escape to Newark for more art.

Sunday, a Dragons revenge awaits with 4th Street Art Chili cook-off. Parlay studios (behind Shoprite) host this second annual event. Bring the heat 2 pm to 6 pm.

The youth of Jersey City is rising up to take on new challanges and hopefully I will come to my surrender terms soon eneough and pass on the digital torch to this blog. This Saturday at Parlay Studios. Million of citizens will gather to support that classic media medium vinyl for a RECORD RIOT. Early birds can pay some extra cash to get in at ten, common folk and acoustics can pay $3 to get in at noon. the records stop spinning at six.

I never made it behind the decks but I did find my iPOD attched to a mixer the next day. sadly, this weekend also marked the last days of the Waterbug. good time and good waves Lex.

On the 58 front , we are moving ahead with applying for a multiple of zoning variances in order that we no longer operate, wait for it "an illegal art gallery", on a parallel front we are working with city leaders to revise the current entertainment ordinance. and most likely I'll be pleading guilty to possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance " live music". To bail us out of this we need to raise about $1,500 to apply for the variance. Join us on JC Fridays for a 58 Benefit with Fancy Colors 9 pm, Little, Big at 8 pm, and Mr Junestar Blackman at 7pm. Ok. If you don't know about the Superheros and Villains Party... what can I say except. I could use some help setting up today. Come around 4 pm and you too can say you hosted half of Jersey City. As well other volunteer spots : working the door with Neil "Eggs" McCoy for an hour and then every one's favorite. Cleaning up the next day. I am looking for a boy/girl wonder to help clean up all night, this is for someone who plans to stay sober so don't jump on it unless you can commit to some sobriety.

Just a couple of notes about tonight's party. $5 for ladies and those in costume. $10 guys w/o capes. Come in mixed comping and as always leave any bad vibes, bad friends and bad asses at home. If you don't want to pay don't plan to stay. The party this year is actually expanded into two apartments on my floor. Next door, we debut the Yin/Yang Lounge with an additional bathroom and a premium liquor cash bar. In my apartment, there will be the usual supply canned beer, methodically mixed superhero and villain drinks and wine.

There are coat checks, bowling lockers in both rooms, and additional lockers by the front door to store stuff. Just don't loose your keys. Ok lets have a fun time tonight. I look forward to this event every year.

Thank you to everyone involved with the Ghost of Uncle Joe's Halloween Fundraiser last Saturday. We raised $4,000 for the Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery. Needless to say, the Cemetery's Board was very impressed and is looking forward to next's year event already. Maybe we should push up some daisies come spring ?

If dressing up is your bag of tricks, get your costumes in the ready for our annual apartment party on Friday November 26th (date corrected from earlier post - don't loose your sh!t please) . This year we reprise The Superheroes and Villain Party . This annual event is precluded by my college posse's, the Derelict Garden Tool's 20th Annual Pagan Thanksgiving Dinner on Monday November 22nd in Montclair.

I am on my way out to New Brunswick to catch my kids, Thomas Francis Takes His Chances play at the Court Tavern. I know this is short notice, so we also have a show planned for this Saturday in a loft space in Newark. The kids, play with Luna Vroum who is currently touring through the United States with several musicians performing “Le Forêt du Moyen” (the Middle Forest), an original noise cabaret fairy tale. In addition to Chlöe Mandel, Luna Vroum’s “Forêt du Moyen” includes Andy March of Youth Club Records, Alley Dennig of SHV, and Corey Allan Hinchey and Jacques Mindreau of Krasnogorsk. The space is about 10-15 walk from the PATH in Newark, so catch a cab or just walk down Route 21 McCarter Highway until you get to 407 Mulberry. Doors are at 9pm. $7 beer included. Zed Never at 10 pm. Luna Vroum at 11 pm, TFTHC at midnight. As a bonus we are throwing in a FREE HOUR for everyone. Redeemable at 2am, so do everything you may regret between 1 am and 2 am.

On Sunday, the Hoboken Art Studio Tour runs from noon to 6 pm. At Paul Vincent Gallery will have a closing reception with Live Jazz for 58's Chief Executive, Orlando Reyes' : A New Kind of Science .

On Friday Night, REM, fakernaughts , Jody Porter and the Black Swans play the Rockwood Music Hall. And April Smith and the Last Picture and the Honey Brothers play Maxwells

Next Friday, John Fesken's Ehullek Tragedies opens at 58. The event will be without any live music performance as will future not city sponsored events until we move forward and get 58 rezoned. On Tuesday November 16th we are beginning 58's Longevity Campaign with a volunteer meeting to get our supporters invovled with applying for a zoning variance. Oh yeah this is going to be fun :)

Although there won't be a quiz, I wanted to make sure you zombies and ghouls are all experts on this Saturday's Fundraiser.

DO NOT Smoke around the graveyard. Smoke in the driveway area only and DO NOT LITTER
DO NOT Lean on, sit on, play on the Gravestone. Most of them are older than you.
BE CAREFUL walking the grounds of the cemetery. The walkways are old and some of the ground has settled. DO NOT - DO NOT go into any restricted areas as there are dangerous and most likely have poison ivy as well.

The event is outdoors, and it starts at 5 pm and ends at 10 pm. It's a fundraiser for the Cemetery. (since you are not the charity please donate $10.) You need to be 18 to enter and will need to sign a waiver to enter.

Jersey City Kickball Rules

This event is a benefit for to children's organization, Have fun like kids just don't act like a baby or bully.
No Bouncies. Pitched balls may not be fired down towards home plate and shall not be excessively bouncy. Teams can force a change in pitcher once an inning by shouting "we want a pitcher, not a belly itcher (three times)".

Kickers must kick the ball behind or on home plate. Kickers can not come into contact with a ball before it reaches home plate. Balls hit in front of the plate are considered foul.

No Bunting. A ball must reach half the distance to first base to be considered fair. Bunt Balls are foul. 2 Foul Balls and you are out.

A Runner is out by force, but can also be called out if hit with the ball. Hitting a player in the face or any no-touch region will be considered safe and be awarded the base. Intentionally hitting a player in the face or jewels with the ball will lead to an expulsion from the game or tournament.

One Base Per Overthrow Balls that miss the base for a force out or miss the runner allow the player (and any other runners) to advance one extra base only. Runners can not advance when the pitcher has control of the ball on the mound.
No Leading “ Players may only leave the base once the ball is kicked. Players that advance before the ball is put into play will be considered out.

Teams must have minimum of eight players, and a maximum of 10 players on the field. Players substituted during a game can not return to play.

Teams must have at least 4 women with two women playing in the infield (excluding the catcher) Teams with less than 4 women will be penalized 2 runs per women difference in team rosters. For example : if one team fields 4 women and the opposing team fields 2 women. The team with the least amount of women will begin with the score of -4 runs.
Each Game consists of 5 innings or 45 minutes. Tie games shall be decided by sudden-death, best of three rock-paper-scissors play.
Each Team has 10 kickers per inning. The inning is finished when the last batter is called out or the ball is placed on home plate. If the ball is caught for an out or the runner is out at first base, no runs scored will count. If a team has less than 10 players, the kicking order will continue through the top of the order as long a four women (or the number of female kickers from the opposing team) have already kicked. If there is a difference then the next kicker will be a female from that team.) The first kicker for each inning is the corresponding kicker for each inning. For instance, the first kicker in the order kicks first in the first inning, the Third kicker in the order kicks first in the third inning. Capice ?

Weather Permitting, players who reach first base are awarded with a water balloon that can be used for defensive base running. It is recommended that each team have a first base coach to hand a water balloon to a player who shall reach past first base on their initial kick. Players who reach second or third base without getting a water balloon when passing first shall not be provided with a water balloon. Water Balloons should also not be throw at a persons face. While supplies last. No waterguns or Artic Freezers please.

Shoes and Attire - Players can not wear any type of cleats or boots or any such item or accessories that may cause injury to another player or the kickball.

Big Ball Inning : We will be using a 8.5 regulation kickball for most of the game. But one inning during the game, a 16 in mega ball will be used, the kicking team chooses when.

Double or Nothing Scoring: One time per game a kicker may signal “double or nothing” the call must be acknowledged by the referee and the opposing teams captain or pitcher. During this play any runs that score shall count as double points. However, if any runner is out during the play, all of the runner are out and no runs shall count.

SPORTSMANSHIP : The referees' word in final. Excess arguing with the referee will lead to first a warning (yellow card) and then second ejection (red card).

NO ALCOHOL & SMOKING

Alcohol is prohibited in the park. The white star is right across the street. Plan according and do not be that stupid asshole that brings beer onto the field.

There is to be no smoking on the field or in the dugout either.

Musical and Athletic Supremacy will be fought over the next two weeks in Jersey City. This Sunday 8 bands will try to out play each other in Last Band Standing at Parlay Studios. The event is a fundraiser for the 4th Street Art and Music Festival (Saturday October 3rd). Not that you enjoy or need alcohol to have fun, but New Jersey Beer Company is sponsoring this event with Chili Master Christopher Silk concocting some treats as well. $5 donation please.

The following weekend (August 28th and 29th), mild-athleticism flourishes again with the our 3rd Annual JC Kickball Tournament. This two day event is a fundraiser for the Learning Community Charter School and the Roberto Clemente Little League. Last year's Champs, the Kuntzballers look to repeat their title, but with the Democratic People's Republic of the White Star ending their boycott and Easy Riders looking to end their reign at number two, things can spell trouble for a Kuntzballers teams decimated by defections and injuries. I plan to bring a generator so we have a power source.

With perhaps some strange irony, Delexilio and their Cuban-rock-dance stylings will perform in exile, as Groove on Grove takes shelter at Bar Majestic tonight. Delexilio plays in support their self titled debut album, Delexilio, here's a review. The weathered walls of Bar Majestic should be a great back drop for the Revolution. Plausible Inventions is a collaborative installation by Nicolas Lampert and Colin Matthes that addresses a world engulfed in its own technology. Lampert and Matthes transform the gallery into an “inventors workshop” of low-tech machines, hybrid creatures, blueprints, drawings, notes, models, survival objects, and scrap leftovers that are both fantastical and commonplace.

Nicolas Lampert is a Milwaukee / Chicago interdisciplinary artist focusing on collage, graphic art, street art, collective art practices, and writing. Melissa Surach's Babyhole will take it's final laugh tomorrow night at the Lamp Post. Ms. Surach, who works tirelessly (performance evaluations available upon request) at three different jobs to put her dog dirty through obedience school, pulled babyhole out of a black-hole of absent comedy in Jersey City. Now, three years after first stealing tips to feed her penchant for alcohol, Jersey City's longest running comedy night will have it's last laugh this Tuesday Night.

To mark this special occasion, the new owner's of the Lamp Post are keeping the kitchen and back dining room open until 10 pm. When the last plate is cleared, Melisa will set up her joke warehouse for the last time. Special musical guest, Ace Case and the Cross Country All-Stars play first, Mike Recine hosts, with stand up performances by Rosie Rebel, Mark Normand. and sketch comedy from local comedy troupe Upset Triangle . Along the way, the final six slots for local comics will be be partitioned off. Remember, it may be easy to be a wise-ass, but it takes guts to put your funny where your mouth is. Don't miss tonight's punch line.

If the end of babyhole had brought you down, recover on Wednesday with the return of Groove on Grove to our outdoor location. Menacing clouds forced last Wednesday's classical performance indoors to Bar Majestic, but Manouche Bag and the Bryan Beninghove Trio will be tent-less for this installment. Bryan, who also performs at Skinner's Loft for Saturday Brunch will starts things off at 6 pm. At 7pm he joins Manoche Bag, the french jazz-gypsy ensemble fronted by Madame Claude's proprietor Mattias Gustafsson. The stage is set for a french resistance not worth missing. Groove on Grove debut's today with a special Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at the Grove Street PATH. I am happy to again be part of this local weekly music series runs that runs every Wednesday through the first week of September. The event is funded through the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) and funded through the Urban Enterprise Zone. Our debut Fiesta has Rainbow Fresh, Lucha DJ, and Los Chispatores performing, with food and liquor sponsors, More, Bar Majestoc and Sawadee. Lucha DJ will also be spinning at Lucky Seven's Cinco de Mayo party tonight.

On Friday, Animals & Arsenal : new works by Dylan Egon opens at 58. This is Dylan's sixth solo show at 58, and as usual we are pulling out the stops for the opening reception. NYC Photographer Svend Lindbaek will be on hand, and along with the Black Hollies and DJ Pat Byrne . The opening begins at 7 pm with the Black Hollies performing at 9 pm sharp.

In addition, the LCCS Parent Teacher Organization is rolling out the snack bar for the scrimmage, speaking of bars, this is an elementary school and although you are big kids, there is to be no alcohol brought into the school. WW5: Ah, Motherland! created a collective dialogue and artwork that explored the dynamic issues of emigration and (im)migration into the United States. As the projects came into focus, it became clear that notions of home, family, culture, and heritage are as as fluid and rich as the work being created. The exhibition illustrates a collective journey to determine the participants' knowledge of (im)migration, as well as to set a new standard of living with cultural relatedness and awareness. Each project represents a personal struggle with (im)migration and it’s effect on identity. Anjelika Krishna drapes her heirloom saris to create new representations of self and identity that includes a merger of east and west. Sonali Sridhar explores technology, tradition and design in "Odhni," a traditional Indian textile that harnesses solar energy.

With Lucky Sevens closed for a Mercy shoot, The He-man woman haters club will be accepting temporary memberships from females for conditional entry to this evenings "Bros before Ho's" festivities at the Lamp Post. DJ Leonard Smalls and I will unite for another danceable affair, real man Chuck Daly (JC Tattoo Co.) will be back next week. On Sunday, my stomach and I help raise money for the 2010 4th Street Arts Music Festival with our gastronomical Chili Cook Off. Much like our Macaroni and Cheese benefit last year. Five dollars will give you an all you chili you can eat affair. Judges, Downtown Councilman Steven Fulop, and Star-Ledger’s Pete Genovese of the Star Ledger, and the Jersey City Museum’s Brendan Carroll will award one top prize while mob justice will award prizes to Jersey City's finest crock pots. The event is being held at the spacious Parlay Studios at 161 Second Street (or more notable- behind the behind of Shoprite)

Next Tuesday, a new Live Music Series begins at Bar Majestic. New owner, Dave Pomplin has reduced his wine prices and refocused the menu back to a Mediterranean flavor complimenting flavors and with the sounds of Fiesta Flamenca for this inaugural event. On March 9th, Roland Ramos give you plays with members of his Forbidden Fruit , Kilsy's bosa nova lounge act, The Touristas, play on March 23rd. These shows start at around 8 pm with musicians playing two sets. Currently, I am booking these shows along with the summer's Groove on Grove festival, as well as shows at the Jersey City Museum and 58 events. Email me with your band links if you are interested. I am also happily getting back into the sporting mode with the first Jersey City Dodgeball Scrimmage on March 6th. Much like smoking, and alcohol, Dodgeball has been banned is many schools for exposing children to the sometimes cruel world that adults live in. For $80, Co-ed groups 6 will compete in this fundraiser to benefit the children of the Learning Community Charter School. There are prizes for the First and Last place teams with fun for all at out after party at Lucky Seven's.

Congrats to Balance Hair Salon on raising $1,000 with their Haircuts for Haiti fundraiser last Sunday, not only did they raise money for a needy cause, but 50 people in the neighborhood now look Groovier ! Haircuts and styles may be the medium to express one self, but this Friday evening you can get a sneak preview of Hair Tactics at the Target : First Fridays at the Jersey City Museum. The group show features texts written in hair, fancy hair motifs used to decorate a love letter, extravagant and multi-colored wigs, drawings featuring hair-covered bodies, and ladies with elaborate up-dos. Entrance to the museum is free, with hands on crafts for the families from 5 pm to 7pm. The evening is complimented with a wine tasting by Terlato Wines and some ice cold ones compliments of the White Star DJ Neil McCoy is filling in for Street Justice (who was summoned to duty at Maxwells) with music in the atrium. At 7 pm, Heather Duby and Higgins perform in the 151 seat auditorium ($8 for JCM members, $10 without).

Music doesn't stop on Friday Night, and in fact is the theme for m11x's Urban Audio Manifesto #3. at 58. 58 Gallery proudly presents the third part of Mikal Hameed’s sound art series entitled “Urban Audio Manifesto #3”. In this exhibit, Mikal Hameed reinvents how we see, hear and interact with art. His interactive “plug and play” works allow the audience to plug their smart devices (vinyl, phones, mp3, ipods etc.) directly into the art. This creates a participation based viewer experience, that lets the audience act as the DJ or sound controller. Hameed’s imaginative and inspiring works utilize vintage sound components and transform them into something modern, unique and completely interactive. Don't expect any DJ's for this opening, the artwork is you DJ, it's a plug and play party so bring your wax, ipods, etc.

Afterwards, we will be heading to Porto Lounge for a Bossa Nova after party with DJ Willliam McCamie. Those still looking for some Mint Tunes, should head to Maxwell's for the Mint 400 records showcase. Any Day Parade and Fairmont take the later spots. Say hello to Street Justice.

My apologies to Thursday, for skipping over you. I know we had spent most of today together and all I talk about is my longing for Friday. well Thursday, we still have today, and I know this may sound too forward, but I would like to start our with us getting naked. Of course, I don't me me and you, but actually obtaining nakedness with a Figure Drawing Class at the Jersey City Art School. If you feel uncomfortable with this, we could always go up to Art House Productions, for their Art House open mike and catch Uninvited and maybe take our own 5 minutes of performance ? This all seems very funny I know, but I was actually thinking that I would love to take you out for for some comedy in the city tonight ? Pat Byrne's comedy group the Upset Triangle is doing an unplugged show at the People's Improve Theatre. Joining the comedy troupe will be comedian Seth Herzog and Musician Vic Ruggiero ! Plus it's the ever comical Nick Fierro's debut performance. The afterwrads, we can head back to Luckys and get you some Ladies Night specials. I on the other hand may need to see Chuck Daly for a Man Party.

Saturday (one day before the Big Game) Is it possible to enjoy a night if you aren't an Saint or Colt. Of course, and Surely Betty will enjoy her birthday at the Lamp Post. Frankie & The Bugs start the celebration off and the make room for a a 12 band Punk Rock tribute by the Subway Surfers. That right 12 f+cking bands all wrapped into 4 dudes. It may be a good way to wipe out your popcorn addled brain from watching the Room at art House productions earlier in the evening. From WIKIPEDIA: The Room is a 2003 independent film written and directed by its star, Tommy Wiseau, who is also credited on screen as both the movie's producer and executive producer...The Room tells the melodramatic story of a love triangle between a man, his future wife, and his best friend. Without any studio support, Wiseau spent over $7 million on production and marketing for the film. Saturday also features a fundraiser for the Creative Grove Art Market at the Mary Bensen Gallery (369 3rd Street) The Frequent Friday Art Market, founded by Fish with Braids owner, Uta returns in warmer weather, coem out and suppport this neighborhood treasure . Expect wild outfits for this event. It is Fasching, Karneval or Mardi Gras season!!Germans use any excuse to party. Most people actually. suggested $12 donation includes 2 drinks. There are prizes for best costume with a Colorful psychedelic projections by Elmgrove on dancing Elizabeth. Carnival is a pagan tradition adopted into Christian religions,originally intended to chase away bad spirits. Masks, tamtam with loud noises, and wild gestures should help the villages and cities free of threatening spirits. all through Europe, the Caribbean, south america and New Orleans it is celebrated, a long season from new years to Fat Tuesday!!

Besides the numerous Superbowl Parties for Sunday ( just walk into a bar or any person's house with a TV) Sunday is not totally devoted and devoid of other events. the Warehouse at 140 Bay hosts a brunch with dj Tomorrow, while Kelly Saint Patrick performs from 1 pm to 3pm at Made with Love from 3 pm to 5pm there is an art opening for Sweet Stitching's by Ashley Lucas. On a more personal note it is where someone like me can get a GOOD PAYING, FLEXIBLE job between gigs. I took the test last month and am thrilled to doing community outreach now (despite my aversion to politics and the state of our 'union'). It's interesting, engaging work and I'm getting Paid $20.50 an hour.
There is plenty of work out there, and that the hiring process is very simple. You just call 866-861-2010 to schedule a test at a time and location most convenient to you (registration, instruction, and testing takes about an hour total). Hats off to Grove Street Bicycles and their used bike donation program. If you haven't opened last week's Jersey City Reporter because you are seeing how much moisture the paper can hold, here's the story. Maybe now we should cut loose some abandoned frames? There has been a ten speed on tenth street that I watched survive the winter, only to recently loose both of its wheels. Poor thing. We can find a home for you, or at least an Art House to live at ? and things were very lively at last Saturday's Snow Ball. If you want to get listed for this March 6th JC Fridays, make sure you have listing together by 5 pm tomorrow.

On the art side this weekend, tape artist, Kayt Hester has an opening tonight(R) from 7 to 9 pm at at Fish with Braids Gallery. Fish with Braids owner, and Attrepreneur, Uta has also started a JC wide events blog at http://www.offoffbeatjc.blogspot.com/ send her stuff. Also this evening, the Jersey City Art School is hosting an art talk this evening at 8 pm for Illinois Artist John Sedburg. Paul Vincent Galleries hosts and art opening this Saturday at 3 pm for Mr. Sedburgs works. As for this Thursday evening, both groups will converge for a Porto Lounge after party. With 45 mile per hour winds, you may need to take shelter elsewhere and as usual this Thursday Night offers something for both sexes. DJ Leonard Smalls will melt ladies hearts with half price drinks at Lucky's, while I got for a man-u-mental evening at the Lamp Post. You of course don't need to choose either, and may simply your supply side economical mind to see the Demands free show tonight at the Lakeside Lounge in NYC. Bring some singles for the picture booth the show is free and starts at 9:15.

Get up early on Friday for the Jersey City Museum's African Diaspora Film Festival. The event runs on Friday and Saturday and features films and documentaries by artists of African descent. A full listing is at the Jersey City Museum's Events page. Later on Friday evening, the Electro-Afro-Beatist Chicco Man, goes public at Joe's Public Theater, show starts at 11:30 pm, you can get tickets here.

With the 07302 confines, _gaia studios unveils their Wonder Women exhibition WW$: Money, Money, Money. A result of the Wonder Women residency project from 2009, ten emerging artists are showcased at the Lex Leonard Gallery space this Friday at 7 pm. The material is engaged in discussions about the artists work, the economy, feminism, and personal relationships to money. The rest if Friday is a little sketchy for me, so you can play on that theme with a visit to the Lamp Post, or get a bosa nova evening with DJ William McCamie at Porto-Lounge.

DJ William McCamie returns to (or perhaps will stay) at Porto-Lounge for a Haitian Benefit on Saturday Night. On Sunday, the staff of Balance Hair Salon is offering $20 Haircuts for Haiti with all of the proceeds going towards the Earthquake Relief Effort. at 3 pm on Saturday, Hudson Pride Connections hosts a Game Day Benefit for Haiti.

On the same Saturday Night, I'll be teaming up with Billy Filo of Higgins for a dual dueling Vinyl Solution waxathon at the White Star. The following Friday, Febraury 5th the Jersey City City Museum, debuts the First Target First Fridays event. Starting at 5 pm with a hands on craft activities for the family, the event features a wine tasting for adults, and then moves an intimate performance in their 151 seat auditorium with Higgins and Heather Duby. The concert is $10 and starts at 7 pm, the free wine tasting is sponsored by Terlato Wines, there will also be some beer from Milwaukee Brewing Company.

Speaking of Drinking, this Saturday, Luckys Seven's hosts an Absinthe Party. Usually, I don't endorse drinking, but this stuff is like sweet milk but with cyanide, so enjoy a host of cooked up cocktails with Leonard Smalls and Motor Funker on the decks. If that the Absinthe doesnt start at riot, try Maxwells for a taste of the Brixton Riot. Fairmont plays at the Lamp Post this Saturday night. While next Friday the 5th, they team up with Mint 400 records label mates Any Day Parade at Maxwells.

On Sunday, get your final glimpse of John Besnate's Sirens Song at 58. Here in Jersey City, a benefit for Wyclef Jean's Yele Foundation is being held on Friday Night at the Lex Leonartd Gallery at 143 Columbus. The JC for Haiti event starts at midnight and was organized by InnerTemple Music, Grassroots Community Space, and Lex Leonard Gallery. Since, I have Friday's and Sunday's big events, on script. Let's talk about the snow forecast for Saturday. A blizzard of fun is expected for Art House Productions Snow Ball on Saturday Night. This annual fundraising event, is much like going to the stately Wayne Manor of Batman fame. Creative formal dressed resident artisans mix with a who's who of Jersey City politics and culture. I don't know if the Riddler will be on hand, but I can guarantee you will get a mystery bag of goodies with a CD from Bern and the Brights, The Neutron Drivers, Ben Franklin, Tris McCall and WJ and The Sweet Sacrifice.

Tris McCall, is playing tonight two shows tonight (R) at Union Hall in Brooklyn. First he teammates with Orverlord, the power pop band that graced up for last years Groove on Grove show, then it's a Tris McCall Pillowfight, as he play songs in full band mode from his latest release, let the night fall.

Staying local wont hurt any way this evening for It battle-of the sexes night with DJ Chuck from the Tattoo Shop manning the Bro's before Ho's night at the Lamp Post. DJ Leonard Small Ball caters his sound sel-sex-tion and the drink specials for the Ladies. Hey Ladies.

On Friday Night, the One and Nines, play O'Hara with a side order of their side project Kiwi the Child. One and Nines, Guitarist Jeff Marino, will be spinning rock and soul in-between the bands. DJ Caligula will be at the Lamppost Friday night twisting his stache and plotting.

After the Snow Ball on Saturday, Larry from Any Day Parade will be at the White Star for the Vinyl Solution, Larry, who used to work at downtown Jersey City's only record store, Iris will undoubtedly have Soul selection. DJ Motorfunker has been recruited on an every other Saturday Gig at LITM, next Saturday he teams up with Leonard Smalls for an Absinthe Party at Luckys. As most of you know, on Tuesday, a devestaing earthquake hit Haiti, the poorest nation in the Americas. Haitian Earthquake Relief is only a text away. • Donate through Wyclef Jean's foundation, Yele Haiti. Text "Yele" to 501501 and $5 will be charged to your phone bill and given to relief projects through the organization.. In addition , here's a link to a Huffington Post article with links to International Relief Organizations appealing for aid. Furthermore, at tomorrow night's opening reception for Sirens Song, John Besante will be collecting blankets, clothes, non persible food and baby goods for a donation drive at a his wife's church in Brooklyn, which serves a large Haitian Community.

John Besante's Sirens Song is a new collection of romantic nudes that expands his continuing and growing series, Women of Color with demure oil painting portraits of Caribbean and Central American models from Jamaica, Belize, Panama, Lucia, and Dominica. We will complement this exhibit with a live performance of Siren Songs by female artists, Bern the Brights,and Jahna Rain of the Demands with special guests. Afterwards join us for an after-party with DJ Dancing Tony at the Lamp Post. I'll also be accepting goods for the donation drive at the Lamp Post. As is DJ Leonard Smalls at his Ladies Night at Luckys.

Tonight, at the Lamp Post, Jersey City's Number one DJ , Humby , is coming out of retirement to spin, via you tube his collection of 70's and 80's euro disco. With all of the holiday hustling, I really haven't had a chance to mention an excellent holiday concept conspired by Flaming Fire frontman, Patrick Hambrect and other talented artists. It's a month long exhibit entitled Eternal Christmas, like all things that Patrick does, this event is an eccentric combination of art, music, and mayhem (which is humbug spelled backwards). This weekend, and into the new decade, there will be live performances, dance parties, holiday readings, a pot-luck christmas party, and even live WFMU broadcast and sandwich making contest this Monday ! Does anyone know how to make an avant garde on rye ? http://www.eternalchristmas.org/.

If you prefer tuna on pumpernickel, J City Theater presents the reindeer-shun of a Tuna Christmas. Taking it's name and setting from the Texaes town of Tuna, this comedy gives more than a good dusting to a town squarely south of the North Pole. The show runs tonight and through this weekend at The Underground Theater at St. Michael’s Church (252 9th St.). Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online here.

Finally, equal parts Christmas and Halloween, Tim Burton's, The Nightmare before Christmas plays tonight (R) at the Warehouse, for their final Movies on the Wall of 2009. Although both holidays are favorites for children, the movie is not meant for a strolled based clieintelle. The movie is free and starts at 7:30pm.

With one week to go until x-day, you can follow the hords to the malls and big stores, or follow big shoppers like Scarlett Johansen, to Another Man's Treasure. The lovely Starlette and Liev Schreiber adorn the upcoming Time Out : Holiday Shopping Guide. It's Holiday Overdrive week. Toy Drives, Food Drives, Holiday Parties, maybe it is no wonder that so much eating and drinking takes place during December ? I don't know, and I am not going to wax poetic about it either cause I have got Holiday Parties, Toy Drives, and Food Drives to get ready for.

As you are figuring out how to regift those scented candles from your Secret Santa, I'll be shoveling off the snow from my holiday record collection for this week's sleighful of parties in the Bar-muda Triangle (The inescapable area within the boundries of the White Star, Lucky Seven's and the Lamp Post). Personally, I'll be hosting Thurdsay Night's Bro's Before Ho's at the Lamp Post. Just in time for Christmas, we will be rebranding this nights edition as Bro's before Ho Ho Ho's. Expect a couple of mikes for some Karaoke Karoling, and really, we will roast some nuts. On Friday, you can enjoy a White Christmas at the White Star. The Big Man, aka Santa, aka one of the massive dudes who plays for White Star Softball Team will be there, with presents and shots. I'll be decking the halls with music. On Saturday Night, DJ Kris Kringle and special guests spin for Lucky Sevens' Holiday Party. Don't worry kids, Santa likes to binge drink and will also be on hand to give out presents and offer some of that coveted laptime that kids under 12 get at the Mall. Saturday Night is also the last night of DJ Leonard Smalls and Luycky 7's donation drive for the York Street Project, so please a baby related item. On Sunday, I'll at Porto to spin for a Hygene High Jinx party for St. Lucy's Shelter. Please bring one to three toiletry products to be donated to St. Lucy's Homeless Shelter.

NOTE : If you have children, and/or don't like your Santa to smell like Jameson, hit the Farmers Market at the Grove Street PATH on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm. Saint Nick will be there and sober.

Well that's my schedule, let's take a look at the rest of the league and don't worry there friends, there is plenty of missletoe to go around. Tonight's (T) Babyhole at the Lamp Post is guess what ? yes a holiday themed party. Melissa is really going with shipping in the canned laughter and asked that you bring some canned food for tonight's event. At Lucky's, Kagero, who play a Japanese Gypsy Rock, is actaully debuting there new CD, Japanese Gypsy Rock, fellow Montclairions, the McMickle Brothers will be on hand play and work the merch booth. Due to a holiday related, Frosty the Snowman meltdown I had, Rocker Tycoon Zak Clark will spin afterwards.

On Friday Night, Tris McCall debuts his new EP, Let the Night Fall, at Piano's on Ludlow Street in NYC. Tris will personally stuff your stocking with a FREE copy that evening, or, you can go pick one up at his apartment. They are free, but Tris is charging $7 to open his front door. On stage, Tris is sandwiched between Palomar at 10 pm, and the Midnight Show, who play at 8 pm (Hey. it's only a band name folks get with it)

On Saturday Night, Miss Ohio and Blood, Guts and Beer play at the Lamp Post. Don't be fooled by other imitations, The Lamp Post is Jersey City's premiere rock venue.

NOTE: Singer Songwriter Night will be on holiday until January.

While the elves ready the reindeers draw Santa's sled through the sky, you can draw yourelf to Paul Vincent Studios life drawing class tonight (T) in Hoboken. LITM's drawing club meets tonight and every Tuesday. This Thursday, life drawing returns to downtown Jersey City at the newly opened Jersey City Art School, The school, opened by Thomas J Carlson earlier this month, is in the space formerly occupied by Hala Vintage on 5th Street. The art school will offer classes taught by local artists, as well as hosting lectures and exhibitions. Go tom, go !

ON A RELATED NOTE : The closing reception for Dana Gannon's Animalia will be this Sunady from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Now back to the music; DJ Lucha, celebrates a full year at Lucky Seven's this Wednesday Night. Some un masked and masked guest DJ's will be in attendance to help celebrate thus turntable event. Steff " Street Justice" Kautzmann has the mysterious Harry Dyke Newman spinning at the Lamp Post on Wednesday. Word from my room mate is DJ William McCamie is spinning at Porto Lounge this Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday is always Leonard Smalls' Ladies Night at Luckys. DJ Caligula, has Fridays at the Lamp Post and Saturday Night, Paul Medoza holds the line at LITM. Next Tuesday, Street Justice spins her own holiday party at Motor City in NYC.

Tonight (R) Street takes over City Hall for our First Annual City Hall Ball. We've got live music by Manoche Bag, Slow Learner and closing out the night will be Thomas Francis Takes His Chances. The Live art created at this years 4th Street Festival will be on display along with live art from the Agitator's Collective. Another Man's Treasure presents a Vintage Winter Wear Fashion Show. Norm is dressing up the place with his light magic, so you please with your wardrobe. It's a Ball. (You can even test market your outfit for January 2010's Snow Ball ) Things start at 5 pm. It's OK to skip dinner, we have a nice spread and some fermented grapes in a bottle.

This enormously ambitious drama-documentary-animation hybrid stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching 'archive' footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change while we had the chance?

Flaming Fire has been collaborating with a group of amazing artists who have flown in from all over the country to work on a holiday-themed art installation in a downtown storefront, at the request of a very large, established organization that specializes in bringing "business, culture and artists together" in Brooklyn.
This organization has abruptly informed us that they changed their minds this week, and that the space is gone. I'm currently hosting two artists in my house, a Hollywood film-set designer/architect and a sculptor from Chicago, who expected to begin installing their work on Tuesday.

We are very interested in working with any storefront, arts organization, gallery or loft space that would be interested in hosting a multi-media installation. Our group has already invested thousands of dollars and weeks of collaborative labor into this project, and we can assure you it will be a stunning, beautiful and thought-provoking addition to your space.

Current projects include an illustrated Bible produced by hundreds of participants, and a musical fitness troupe that combines health and music.

so it turned out that last sunday's last volleyball game was also my season ender, (catch the Garden State Roller girls this Friday for their season ender) my ankle is on the mends and neither this Mondays, The Pagan Thanksgiving Dinner or next Mondays, Saints and Sinners Party at my apartment will be canceled. The Pagan Thanksgiving is a communal dinner with a 20 year college tradition that will be passed on to future Derelict's, and my Post Thanksgiving - Black Friday Party is on it's 10th year or so. Speaking of manning up, check out the links on the side about, getting involved to make Jersey City, more bike friendly. Local bike tour Easy Riders has an on line petition to get the wheels rolling on providing better, roads, routes, rack, and respect for JC Bikers. Unlike the one party rule nations in vacation places like Myanmar and Sudan, Jersey City has a host of citizen run committees to help get Jersey City get it together. On Thursday, Civic JC as well as the Downtown Neighborhood Coalition and the Height Coalition are hosting a "Call to Service" forum to get local residents involved. The one hour forum begins at 7 pm and being run with the assistance of City Clerk Robert Byrne.

The Jersey Call to Service focuses on four opportunities to serve Jersey City, they are: 1) Serving on an appointed local board or commission; 2) Serving as a neighborhood-level party committeeperson; 3) Becoming a citizen legislator by devising a constructive common-interest proposal and presenting it to a relevant government body; and 4) Serving as a "Citizen Journalist" to report from the frontlines what is happening in City Hall.

Along the same lines, later on Thursday, I will be convening a Bro's before Hoes Convention at the Lamppost. While Leonard Smalls may enjoy the scent of an "Ocean Breeze" candle for Lucky Seven's Ladies Night. I'll be catering to those of us who would rather smell musk. Make sure you bring your set of balls for the $2 domestic draft $3 whiskey shots. In order to provide some type of legitMANcy for this event, I'll be operating as DJ ManthonyVito and alternating my Thursdays with a real man, Chuck from JC Tattoo on this gig.

Ladies do rule, and tonight (W), The Demands, Jahna Rain spins for Street Justice's DTJC Night at the Lamp Post. Jahna's former outfit, Mister Badger plays the Parkside lounge on the 23rd while Jahna's Demanding Friends, The Subway Surfer's celebrate Larry's birthday and play the Lamppost this Saturday Night. This Saturday's Vinyl Solution is also double the wax, in addition to with DJ William McCamie spinning, the White Star is also hosting the artist reception for their new art installation by Joe Waks. Friday is at the Court Taverna nd Saturday a Basement Party awaits. TFTHC, plays the Leonard Small Birthday Party at Luckys on the 5th and then the 4th Street Ball at City Hall on December 10th. The Ball is a fundraiser that showcases some of the live art created by at the Festival earlier this year and Will be on display throughout December. Grace Church also is hosting their 20th Annual cathedral Arts Festival. The event is Grace Church’s primary fundraiser, and will help support its religious services and community outreach; among other things, the church offers a senior center and breakfast program providing hot meals on weekends to people in need. Gala admission is $40 in advance, $50 at the door, and a percentage of the sale price of each work of art goes to the church.
