You E-Z Funding for All About Downtown and a One-Man Social Network

The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District has been pumping culture into downtown like a Botox clinic puckers up Los Angeles Lips. However, for the last couple of years money that has been generated through the special economic districts 3.5 % tax rate has been redirected from our local economy back to the state. Not looking to rely solely on that Aid, HDSID generates it's event funding through sponsorship and vendor fees but the redirected funds still leave us with as shortfall. I hope that you will consider making a contribution to to help fund this years All About Downtown Festival on Sept 21st. Rock-it - Dancing Tony

I made the news last week, and it wasn't in the police blotter or the obituaries. And my mom is some thing new for the fridge doord. Thanks Chrsitine Goodman, Greg Brickey, Orlando Reyes, and Jack Halpin for your kind words and Tris McCall for the story. And everyone in my one-man social network.

Tonight, I'm DJing at Lucky's with Snow Ball DJ Soul Global Soul Project Tuxes are optional. George and I first met at the fames Aldo's Danceclub in Lyndhurst. We start at ten. Earlier in the eve. Get your Art Swapping on at 479 Manilla for a 479 arts swap, and then maybe head out for the closing party for Norm Kirby's Wonderland at LITM, before thing get all Lovey Dovey on Tuesday Night . Also tonight, They Live | Awkward Girls | Eastern Anchors and the Incredible Pits play www.maxwellsnj.com. If you didn't know, there a parking garage in Maxwell Place [about two blocks away] one. you can tailgate, and two. it's only $5 for a 3 hours block of time, which beat the thirty minutes you spent looking for a spot.

Sext week things are going to get real hot in anticipation of roses and chocolate. The Tiny Giant Winter Beach Ball rolls through four venues, over three days, and three counties. Fridays [Court Tavern-NuBrunswick] Saturday [Asbury Lanes-Park] Sunday [Lampost-JC] &[Maxwell's]. I'll be hosting Lucky's Mardi Gras | V-day Party on Saturday The Defending Champs and Electronica Local Annelise Collette start parade at 8 pm DJ's Stay Golden Pony Boy and Mr. Blonde finish the route. With the real Valentine's falling on Thursday Night, I'm going to need to rethink Ladies Night :)

Zoey Ramone will be back in her little tattoo shack and of course I’ll be spinning all things Hawaii, Surf, Skate, Lounge and anything else that reminds you of Summer. PATHS THAT CROSS : Photography Show at 313 Gallery

03/01 & JCF 5 to 9 pm : Paths That Cross is a visual art experience comprised of works both in photography and video. The work reflects the artists finding their own space in this song to create and reflect. 17 Year Cicada - New Works by Kayt Hester

SAT 08/24 @ 9pm Port-o- Lounge he 17 Year Cicada – New Art Work by Kayt Hester – opens August 24th at Port- O Lounge, one of the handful of downtown Jersey City restaurants/art galleries that, by presenting to new audiences, up & coming and established local artists, are transforming the New York Metropolitan area Art World. As the title of the exhibition suggests, this edition of the yearly Hester Summer Showcase coalesces around the theme of Magicada Cicadas – the species of cicadas that only appear every 17 years. Her more recent work also expands her use of texture and color. Augmenting her black masking tape are new, extraordinary details made of brightly colored, metallic tape. She also has incorporated embroidery to canvases, essentially embedding 21st century needlepoint within her tape illustrations.

The 21st Annual Pagan Thanksgiving Feast Where: Halcyon, 114 Walnut Street, Montclair (Next door to Egan's. Parking in back or at the train station) When: The Monday Before Thanksgiving - November 21, 2011 Why: Libations - 7 PM, Dinner - 8:30 (we promise multiple food stations this year!) Who: Everyone, and anyone you want to bring, all are welcome. How: Remember to bring a side dish or homemade dessert Bonus!: Get your muscles primed for the Annual Wishbone Grudge Match! The 21st Pagan Thanksgiving Feast is upon us and from every nook and cranny the weird and wonderful will gather for an evening of full throated frivolity! We will gorge and devour! We will cackle and hoot! Glasses will empty, plates will be licked clean! In the end we will be emerge with bursting bellies, fizzy heads and murky memories. This year we are back at HALCYON in Montclair (next door to Egan's). Feel free to invite any demons you desire: friends and neighbors, families and co-workers, the more the merrier. We'll cook up the turkeys, the ham, the potatoes and the stuffing. All you need to bring is your momma's best side dish or a homemade dessert. No need to bring booze - the bar will be open all night. Every year, we pass the hat to benefit the Human Needs Food Pantry, which has enriched the lives of Montclair residents since 1982.

58 Gallery Reunion Show

Opening F 6 to 9 pm Mary Benson Galleryey everybody, there once was this place called 58 gallery in dtjc showed some of the best art around by some of the best emerging artist around, it coupled the shows with sounds and visuals "that would create an atmosphere unlike any in nyc" holland cotter ny times...and it did a bunch of other things to strengthen the artist community between 2002-2012. it closed in 2012. some of the pioneers and trendsetters of that time are gathering for the start of this amazing series of shows. stay tuned for more info. www.fifty8.com

The Attic Ensemble Presents

Nov 7 to 18h @ Barrow Mansion | August, 1949. A fascinatingly realistic picture of routine cases brought into a bustling metropolitan police station in the course of an evening. Out of the welter of human misery, vice and foolishness there emerges the moving case of a decent young man who has stolen money from his employer; a hardened criminal dragging his young friend down with him; a lawless NJ "gardener" with a corrupt lawyer; and others. In the throes of the tumult is Detective McLeod -- a man whose black & white vision of justice will be challenged by the woman he loves most: his wife. A cast of 22 men and women will bring this drama of truth and consequences to life on the stage.
